iCRT goes Android

Those of you with an Apple iPhone or an iPad that have been utilising iCRT will have already realised the benefits. Now, iCRT is also available on Android so smart phone users can reap the same rewards.

With usage of smart phones on the rise, introducing an Android application was the next step in the CRT technology story. Android is a more generic platform that is compatible with many brands of smart phone handsets, meaning iCRT is now more widely available to shareholders.

iCRT on Android has the same content as the iPhone application, which was developed to assist shareholders to find CRT suppliers quickly and easily, and give access to information about the Co-operative. The application has four sections – information about CRT, key contacts, areas of CRT business and most importantly, the CRT Card supplier directory.

Ease of use was a key factor in the development of the iCRT, and the supplier directory feature was created to ensure that shareholders could find suppliers and make the most of CRT rebates and Choices Points no matter where they were.

Imagine heading off on a camping holiday with your family and after six hours of travel you discover you've accidentally left half your supplies at home. There's no turning back after that drive, and you're going to need a few things to tide you over, but you're not familiar with the area and it's an unexpected expense. You'd probably be thinking a CRT supplier would be the way to go – you could trust they would have quality goods, and you can get a rebate. But you haven't got your hardcopy of the CRT Card supplier directory with you. You do however, have your phone. A quick search on iCRT would not only find you decent suppliers, it would give you maps and directions to find them.

Information regarding all 2800 CRT suppliers and their 4000 outlets is contained within iCRT, and it is regularly reviewed so that it is always up-to-date. Given that the CRT Card supplier directory is only printed in hardcopy every two years, and new suppliers are aligning with CRT every month, it makes sense to reference iCRT to ensure the information is correct.

Current technologies are providing solutions for people virtually anywhere via mobile systems, and iCRT is aiming to do just that. With technology becoming more prevalent in the rural sector, particularly among the new generation of young farmers, CRT is conscious that farmers might be doing business a little differently, so the development of iCRT is providing a fluid platform to interact with shareholders.
